As part of the Impact4Values program, which we implement in cooperation with the Slagalica Foundation and CNVOS, we continue the series of transborder debates. We invite you to join us for a new one in the series entitled “Human rights on the crossroads: right protection of the newcomers”. The protection of human rights for newcomers—migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers—stands at a critical crossroads, shaped by intersecting legal, social, and economic factors in Europe and globally. Migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeker rights remain precarious amid restrictive policies, systemic discrimination, and geopolitical shifts. Unequal access to education, fair work conditions, and social rights raises urgent questions about the adequacy of existing legal frameworks. This discussion critically examines the challenges and possibilities for securing newcomers’ rights, emphasizing dignity, justice, and access-based approaches. It also interrogates the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, which deepens mistrust and criminalization of migrants.
