The D&J Baković Fund was founded in 2018 based on an HRK 600,000 donation from Desa Baković. That year, we enrolled 29 students in the first “solidarity class”. Of these 29, 23 will have graduated by 2023, while there are currently six scholarship recipients of the fund this year. With the campaign “ONE FOR ONE: Solidarity with a goal”, the SOLIDARNA Foundation wanted to provide funds for scholarships for the new “solidarity class” in which, from the school year 2023/2024, to be 25-30 scholarship recipients.

The first phase of the campaigns started with a press conference on June 3rd and lasted until July 11th, and we are especially glad that this campaign was a “matching” campaign, thanks to the generous donor of the SOLIDARNA Foundation, who made it possible to double every euro donated, all up to 40,000 euros. The campaign was realized online and offline through external digital advertising and by organizing a public event “Graduation for All” at The Garden Brewery.
The faces of the campaign are Severina Lajtman, a former scholarship recipient of the Fund, and Siniša Matijević, a current scholarship recipient of the Fund. In addition to them, donor Severina Vučković and donor Siniša Mareković also appear in the campaign, who share the same interests and talents as the scholarship recipients. This is precisely why the campaign was carried out under the slogans: #jedanzajedan, #severinazaseverinu, #sinišazasinišu.
From 03.06. 2023 until July 11, 2023. a total of EUR 37,314.82 was paid to the giro sub-account of the Desa & Jerko Baković Fund of the SOLIDARNA Foundation.
During the duration of the campaign, 475 individual donations were paid, of which 462 were payments by natural persons in the total amount of EUR 31,554.82 and 13 payments by legal entities in the amount of EUR 5,760.00.
The lowest individual donation by a natural person was EUR 0.1, and the lowest individual donation by a legal entity was EUR 5.00. The largest single donation by a natural person was EUR 1,000.00, while the largest single donation by a legal entity was EUR 2,500.00. The average donation amount of a natural person is EUR 68.31, while the average donation amount for legal entities is EUR 271.67.
EUR 2,190.56 was spent on the costs of the campaign (which includes the costs of advertising, printing, video props, and copyright). Of the funds collected, EUR 1,380.26 was directed to organizational costs, i.e. 3% of donations from citizens, which is EUR 913.79, and 10% of donations from business entities, which is EUR 466.47.
A one-time donation and a standing order are possible throughout the year. By donating up to 2% of your annual income, you can reduce the taxable amount of your income, as an individual and as a company.
All donors, natural and legal persons, went through the evaluation process according to the Rulebook on Relations with Donors and the Rulebook on Conflict of Interest Management.
The SOLIDARNA Foundation will include the results of this campaign as part of reporting to the City Office for Social Protection, Health, Veterans and Persons with Disabilities.
The donation campaign “ONE FOR ONE: Solidarity with a goal” was realized thanks to several volunteers, as well as donors of the Desa & Jerko Baković Fund, who in addition to money, donated their time, creativity, and professional skills.

Many thanks also to Siniša Mareković, the Fund’s donor, who responded to our call and successfully shot a promo video of the campaign with us in impossible weather conditions.
Starting from the name of the campaign to the final realization, many thanks go to the creative team of the campaign, made up of volunteers. Thank you to Angela Buljan Siber, Eva Tetec, and Zvonimir Mladiček from the iZone agency, who announced our solidarity goal all over the world and on the Internet. Thanks to designer Goga Golik, responsible for the visual identity. From the very beginning and preparations for the campaign, Zinka Bardić (Madison) was present, thank you for your great contribution to setting up and implementing the campaign. Video spots played a big role in the media distribution of the campaign, and they would not have existed without director Predrag Ličina, screenwriter Vanje Mitrović, with whom the videos were also realized by DOP Mario Marko Krce, the sound was edited by Costa Ipsa – RED Studio, and the animations by Izone, as well as without the musician Sara Renar, who provided us with a space for recording and enabled all technical conditions.
Many thanks also to the photographer Nina Đurđević, who accompanied her with her camera from the shooting of the video, and portraits of the scholarship holders to the press conference. Thanks to The Garden Brewery for the generous donation and the provision of the DJ booth. Thanks to the universe to the eight-year-old DJ Svemir, less known as Relja, for making us dance, as well as DJs Nenad Borovich and Dino Milić.
We would also like to thank Sanja Sarnavka for her involvement in promoting the campaign, as well as proofreading all materials. Thank you to the members and council members of the Desa & Jerko Baković Fund for actively participating in the work of the Fund and for their support during the campaign.
The campaign resonated throughout Croatia through online and offline media thanks to: Go2Digital, RTL, T-portal, Yammat, Neon.hr, Telegram, N1 and numerous other media that accompanied and additionally supported the campaign highlighting campaign banners, publishing promo videos, playing jingles, etc. Thank you for following the work of the SOLIDARNA Foundation and for contributing to the achievement of the campaign goal.
5. Further steps
Thanks to your support and trust, we have reached the solidarity goal! In parallel with the donor campaign, the applications of potential new scholarship holders were collected and now the final evaluation phase is underway. Candidates for scholarships are submitted by schools, centers for social welfare, local associations, homes for children without adequate parental care, student dormitories and existing beneficiaries of SOLIDARNA Foundation funds, guided by the county development index. The focus is, of course, on the most underdeveloped areas of the country. The SOLIDARNA Foundation received 170 applications, and all applicants will be informed of the decision of the Desa & Jerko Baković Fund Council by the end of July.
Before the start of the school year, the SOLIDARNA Foundation will sign contracts with new scholarship recipients and commit to their scholarship until graduation.
The large number of children registered for scholarships shows us that with each school year the need to ensure support for children and the existence of individualized support such as the Desa & Jerko Baković Fund scholarship grows. Although the media campaign has ended, the campaign of the Desa & Jerko Baković Fund is long-term and continues throughout the year, and we will work with young people through various formats but also try to activate and sensitize citizens for continuous donations, in accordance with the mission of the SOLIDARNA Foundation, which is the spread of philanthropy and solidarity.
